The Team

We are proud to be a family business, and this will inevitably shine through during your stay – Susan, Peter and their Son’s and families are all on hand to assist you with your requirements be it cooking, organising activities or pampering yourself!

With a strong ‘Family’ ethos at Bryn Tanat Hall, it will be of no surprise to you that we see the rest of our Team as an extension of our family.  We employ locally and although they all have their given roles, their ability to adapt and help in all areas of the business is second to none.

We will always go out of our way here at Bryn Tanat Hall to make your stay here the best ever, making you want to return year after year.

Susan Martin

Susan Martin’s parents, Bill and Flora Hall, acquired Bryn Tanat Hall to run as a hotel in 1967, when Susan was just 10 years old. She fell in love with the property instantly. In 1989, Susan and her husband Peter oversaw an extensive refurbishment programme to both the house and gardens, which was finally completed in 1997. Today, Bryn Tanat Hall, offers luxury five star accommodation and is run as a family business.

Peter Martin

Peter has been married to Susan Martin for 38 years and is a businessman with over 40 years’ experience in the catering and hotel industries. Having spent a good proportion of his career selling tea, he now makes it in industrial quantities to keep the Bryn Tanat team happy and hydrated, and considers himself to be chief tea-maker, grounds man and bookkeeper. When not reining in his wife’s enthusiasm for all things health, Peter oversees all developments of Bryn Tanat Hall.

Jonathan Martin

Jonathan is Peter and Susan’s elder son and has a very successful flooring company with his brother James. They are the cornerstone of maintenance at Bryn Tanat Hall ensuring the facilities are in perfect working order for each and every guest. Jonathan is married to Jo-Anna and they are parents to Edward. In his spare time he loves running, cycling and competing in local triathlons.

James Martin

James is Peter and Susan’s younger son and married to Kirsty Martin. As well as his business with Jonathan and upholding the maintenance at Bryn Tanat the brothers are designing and building the new Parkland Lodge's. In James' spare time he enjoys spending time with his three young children, keeping fit and is a keen mountain bike and road cyclist.

Kirsty Martin

Kirsty is married to James Martin and a very busy lady. Kirsty is Bryn Tanat Hall's beauty therapist specialising in Aromatherapy Associates body treatments and oversees all website and marketing activity. She is also mummy to three young children, Olivia, Sophia and George. Phew!

Fiona Watkins: Sales, Marketing & Admin

With her BA Honours Degree in Travel and Tourism, Fiona has worked in sales and account management for over 15 years in very different industries, including exhibition design and build, promotional merchandise, medical and leisure. As well as working at Bryn Tanat Hall she also has her own handmade gift bag company and works in digital advertising sales for Shropshire Live. Bubbly by nature and always smiling, Fiona is a proud mummy of two boys Kyle and Ryan and when she's not working she loves the outdoors especially biking and walking with her dog.

Beth Patrick – Chef

Beth is responsible for the mouth-watering menus at Bryn Tanat Hall- and an expert in celebration cakes and delicious puddings…

‘I have always loved cooking and after studying at catering college and working at various hotels in the UK, I started my own catering company in 2002. We live on a smallholding on the Welsh borders and produce our own free-range pork and eggs, and tend a substantial fruit and vegetable garden.

Desiree Pritchard – Housekeeping

Desiree has worked with the Martin family for over 20 years. You could eat your dinner off Desiree’s floors, and she takes great pride in her work and is kept busy with her family being a grandmother and great grandmother. She loves an evening out with friends and a spot of retail therapy.

Sarah Hughes – Housekeeping

Sarah is a self-confessed people person who loves a good laugh. Before joining the team at Bryn Tanat Hall five years ago, Sarah worked as a children's nanny. She has two daughters of her own and is a local school governor.

Claire Lavelle: Journalist and blogger

Claire Lavelle is a health and parenting journalist with more than 20 years’ experience and writes the monthly blog articles for Bryn Tanat Hall. Formerly editor of best-selling parenting magazine Prima Baby, Claire has also written for glossy magazines such as Red, Woman & Home, Prima, Healthy, Closer, Yours and Best, websites such as Goodhousekeeping.co.uk and Netmums.com and contributes regularly to ArthritisCare.org.uk. She is mum to Amelia and lives near Brighton.
