Inspired by a southern suburb of Cape Town South Africa where Susan spent much of her childhood. Praised for its peacefulness Pinelands has an abundance of trees, which are two key attributes of the Pinelands here at Bryn Tanat Hall. The bedrooms are themed on the Ardmore Ceramics Studio that was founded in 1985 by Zimbabwean-born ceramic artist Fee Halsted.
Take a Look Around
Inside Pinelands, no compromise is necessary. You’ll enjoy all the magic and romance of a lodge by the river with all the outdoor action you could want, in a setting laced with luxuries, like a fitted kitchen, oil-fired underfloor heating, 50″ smart TV and fast wifi.
This is open-plan living at its finest. From the leather living-room chairs to the kitchen island breakfast bar, to the huge American fridge, to the oval dining table, and from there to the outside terrace and the great outdoors.
Cooking and dining
The oval dining table seats 8 with stunning views through the picture window, but you might prefer to eat al fresco and hire our Weber BBQ for an evening on the sun terrace during the summer months. Wherever you eat, it’ll be all the better for the double oven, four-ring induction hob and American fridge/freezer.
Stock up on local honey and jam and all manner of seasonal fare from Llynclys Hall Farm Shop. You may have a chef within your group or you may wish to hire the services of our Chef Beth Patrick. Using seasonal ingredients, Beth can make you a relaxed evening supper for you to finish and serve whilst you enjoy the comforts of the lodge.
Just a short car journey to the village and you will find The Station Grill restaurant, The Sun Hotel, fish and chip shop and Indian take away. If it’s fine dining you’re after, AA-rated Sebastian’s in Oswestry is well worth a visit.
Each bedroom has stunning views from double glazed sliding doors at the foot of the bespoke handmade bed. Entered from a quiet lobby they are contemporary, elegant, private and super king or twin. Aromatherapy Associates goodies, fluffy bathrobes, 400-count Egyptian cotton bed linen, hypoallergenic hollow fibre duvets and pillows. While pocket sprung comfort mattresses guarantee a deep and restorative nights’ sleep. Ardmore, Leopard and Zambezi each have their own en-suite shower rooms whilst Savuti has an en-suite bathroom.
Relax in the Mid Wales borderlands
Take a walk down to the River Tanat with a picnic, you may even spot the Kingfisher and then enjoy the piping hot tub as the sun dips over the Meifod Valley.
Life is short but, when it rumbles past at the pace of the Tanat River, it seems longer. Go ahead and fly-fish the time away. Walk the five acres of parkland among 2500 semi-mature and specimen trees. Play a little tennis, break out the boules, wander the woodlands, sear your steaks on the terrace, set up a test match on the lawn.
Do as much as you want, but it’s the simple pleasures you’ll remember most. The clean air, the rushing river and the setting sun. This is time’s very own garden.
You don’t need to leave the site to have a great time here. The River Tanat runs along the bottom gardens and guests can fish provided you have a licence. You can have your own Wimbledon tournament on the tennis court or enjoy a game of boules by the Lodge. Contact us ahead of your stay and we will be able to archery, falconry, pilates, yoga and Nordic walking. Make use of the on-site Treatment Room for luxury massages, facials and beauty essential treatments.
Did somebody say good walks? Welsh border country is lovely all by itself, but just over an hour away sits the spectacular Snowdonia National Park and Offa’s Dyke. Or explore rolling farmland, open moorland, forests, lakes and reservoirs along sections of Glyndŵr’s Way.
For the mountain bikers you can visit Llandegla Forest Trail Centre and Coed-y-Brenin Trail Centre, and horse-riding at Penycoed Riding Stables in Pant. Shoot clay pigeons at Haimwood, or shoot under par at Llanymynech Golf club. Shoot out to the shops at Shrewsbury or the historic city of Chester.
Many National Trust properties are on our doorstep such as Powis Castle, Erddig and Attingham Park. See one of Britain’s most spectacular and impressive early Iron Age hill forts at Oswestry, or spectacular Anglo-Saxon Shrewsbury Abbey. Take a tour of Stonehouse Brewery, with its traditional hand-crafted methods, great cask beer and gin distillery.
From January 2020 our guests staying in the lodges will be able to use our large on-site gym.
Our gym offers the very latest in fitness equipment with a wide range of cardiovascular and resistance machines as well as free weights, swiss balls and mats for a total body workout. The gym is suitable for beginners and advanced participants alike.
Please note – the gym is available to over 18s only, and strictly no children are allowed in the gym at any time.

I cannot recommend this house and the staff enough to host an event of any kind, wedding or other.....
It was lovely. The service of staff was excellent they were all very, very welcoming to both us and all our guests. It was lovely to see such passion from them and obvious they enjoy working at the event. The food in the evening was delicious 5* from us.

I went to Bryn Tanat Hall for a lovely yoga and meditation weekend. The place is absolutely stunning.....
The place is absolutely stunning. The room was comfortable and beautifully furnished. The grounds are lovely. The food was amazing. I had a massage while I was there which was glorious - lovely products too. I highly recommend a stay here - either as a friends or families group or for one of their health and well being events.
First class venue for large family occasions.....
We stayed at Bryn Tanat for a week to celebrate my Father's 70th birthday and to catch up with a large group of family and friends. It is a perfect venue for this type of celebration. The accommodation is furnished to a very high standard and there are lots of grounds and amenities to keep all generations entertained.
